Eight nights, nine days, countless valleys above the clouds.
Set off from Delhi on an overnight journey into the Himalayas, arriving in Shimla as dawn breaks.
Continue into Kinnaur Valley and reach Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibet border, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and wooden houses.
Travel deeper into Kinnaur with a stop at Hindustan ka Aakhri Dhaba, lunch overlooking Kinnaur Kailash Peak, and the confluence of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers at Khab.
Cross into Spiti Valley. Visit the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas, and the cliff-perched Dhankar Monastery.
Explore Key Monastery, walk across Asia's highest suspension bridge at Chicham, send a postcard from Hikkim (world's highest post office), and visit Komic and Langza with its giant Buddha statue and fossil valley.
Cross Kunzum Pass and reach Chandratal at 4,300 m, the crescent-shaped lake fed by glacial springs.
Trace the mountain road from Chandratal back toward Manali, completing the Spiti Circuit with a final descent through the Lahaul landscape.
Arrive in Delhi as the trip concludes.
What makes this road trip unforgettable.
Kunzum La (4,590 m) opens the gateway between Lahaul and Spiti with dramatic thin-air vistas.
Tabo, Dhankar, and Key are centuries-old centers of Tibetan Buddhism with stunning murals and architecture.
Chandratal at 4,300 m is a crescent-shaped glacial lake shifting through amber, violet, and rose at sunset.
Langza's ancient marine fossils and giant Buddha statue overlook a valley that was once under the Tethys Sea.
With almost zero light pollution, Spiti's night sky is among the clearest in the Indian Himalaya.
Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibet border, and Komic, one of the highest villages in the world.
Travel with Kulwant, an experienced Spiti guide who knows every pass, village, and hidden trail.
